Connection to the Hunter Valley – Sister Florence Lee was born in Scone and is named on the honour roll of Scone Public School.
Training and experience – a Florence ‘Lees’ is named in the pass list for membership of the Australian Trained Nurses’ Association, Sydney Morning Herald 24 December 1914, p8 (retrieved from Trove 10 November 2012). This may be a misprint for ‘Lee’. Florence died in 1971 aged 82. The report of her death in the Scone Advocate (see references) notes that after her return from active service she worked at Glenfield Special School, devoting her life to children with intellectual disabilities.
