Connection to the Hunter Valley – Staff Nurse Ada Harvey trained at Maitland Hospital, graduating in 1915. At the time of enlisting her next-of-kin was named as James Harvey (father) of Haydon Street, Murrurrundi.
Service – Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS)
Service location – Egypt and Salonika. Ada’s time with the AANS was short – the Mooltan left Australia in June 1917 with a complement of military nurses as well as civilian passengers. One of these was the Rev Danson, Bishop of Sarawak, whom she married in Cairo in February 1918. As a married woman, she was obliged to resign.
